Muscle Fatigue Inquiry Lab--Guidelines

Turn in: Blank copy for test group to fill out    "Key" answer hypothesis, variables, conclusion, extension.

Background information (quick paragraph):
Explain how muscles become fatigued and how cellular respiration works
Brief Explanation of move and muscles involved
Does motion involve aerobic or anaerobic CR

Pre Lab Questions: Write questions that help review muscles and joints (Leave blank for test group to answer)

Hypothesis: Your group give hypothesis (let test group fill in)

Identify Variables:

Materials: List materials needed to complete activity

Procedure:  List of steps procedure, make sure they are clear and concise

Data table: Construct a data table for group to record data

Graph: If a graph can be used to show comparative results you can have groups construct a graph

Conclusion: What did the group learn from experiment? Ask students to write a summary/conclusion.

Post Lab Questions: Add questions that wrap up experiment.

Extended Inquiry: Could your lab be expanded on?  Different variables, test subjects, etc.  Have your group and your test group go through and propose extension.

Movements and Joints Quiz

Movements and Joints Quiz will be on Thursday
For the movements you will have to match the movements w/ an example of that movement (NOT JUST THE DEFINITION!!!)

Example: Coach Cheney is "waving" his baserunner around third into home to score the winning run---Circumduction

For the joints you will be given an example to and fill in whether it is IMMOVABLE/SLIGHTLY MOVABLE/FREELY MOVING, then if it is freely moving, which of the 6 classes is it (B&S, G, H, E, S, P).

One short answer question.

Anatomy and Physiology Intro

Merry Christmas to you and your families!!  Enjoy your break-Mr. Cheney and the Minks

(Read to the song the 12 days of Christmas)

On the 6th day of Anatomy, my cadaver sent to me......

Please Read Chapter 5 (Surfer Book) and do review questions (1-29) at the end of the chapter. Due 1/3/13
We will go over the Integumentary System on Thursday/Friday when we return.

On the 5th day of Anatomy, my cadaver sent to me, a practical to review my dissection abilities.
Part one: Matching 26 structures to their functions
Part two: Matching Body cavities to structures found w/in (review page 16-19 in surfer book)
Part three: Practical YOU WILL HAVE 5 MINUTES AT EACH MINK STATION!!!

Mink #3: Respiratory system (7 items)
Mink #4: Excretory system (5 items)

On the 4th day of Anatomy, my cadaver sent to me, a mink to dissect...finally!!!
CHECK THIS WEBSITE OUT!!!  http://highschoolbiologywiki.wikispaces.com/file/view/mink_dissection_step-by-step_instructions.pdf

Please read over the Mink dissection lab handout this weekend, you must know what you are cutting and examining prior to that day's objectives for dissection.  If you want to come in and get a look at the Mink dissection booklet, you are more than welcome to come in and review these before school, during lunch/study hall, or QRP.  Also, I recommend looking online at YouTube videos of mink dissection to take a little of the shock and awe of the first day!!!
