Mr. Cheney, You are Getting on my Nerves!!!
Nervous System (F-T) Mader Ch 37 Read 694-714 WKBK p 235-245 (s/f) 247-250 (drugs/fx)
Special Senses (T-W) Mader Ch 38 Read 717-732 WKBK p 231-234, 251-265
Endocrine (W-Th) Mader Ch 40 Read 735-770
Immune/Lymphatic (Th-F) Mader Ch 44 Read 627-643 WKBK 169-70 (examples of defenses) 173-182 (Lymph/Immunity and vaccinations), 183-189 (Immune system disorders)
This seems like a lot of information, but for these systems we are going to focus on the homeostastic processes and their relationships to the systems we have already covered. These systems have direct ties back to the Nervous System.
I will highlight specific questions in my biozone that are key concepts.

Respiratory System
We are going to take a nice deep relaxing breath as we continue are tour of the vertebrate organ systems.
Tuesday 2/19 Evolution of Respiratory System--From Gills to Lungs
Read Mader p. 664-675 MUST READ
Orange Biozone pg 93-98
Wednesday 2/20 Physiology of the Vertebrate Respiratory System
Read Surfer p. 519-529 (Homeostasis and Regulation in the Resp/Circ Systems) MUST READ
Read Surfer p. 503-514 (Components of the human respiratory system) Must know organs involved but this goes into great depth. We are going to look at the functions of the Respiratory system.
Orange Biozone pages 99-103

Muscle Activity Presentation suggestions
On posterboard (not only way)
1. Show motion in a frame by frame sequence
2. Identify major muscles involved, try to find diagram of muscles showing movement of each frame. Color insertion, origin, ag/anta/synergist muscles
3. Identify joints and movements of each frame
Separate explanation (typed) so people can read explanation and refer back to diagram.
This set up will allow you to keep everything from becoming too clustered.

Muscle Fatigue Inquiry Lab--Guidelines
Turn in: Blank copy for test group to fill out "Key" answer hypothesis, variables, conclusion, extension.
Background information (quick paragraph):
Explain how muscles become fatigued and how cellular respiration works
Brief Explanation of move and muscles involved
Does motion involve aerobic or anaerobic CR
Pre Lab Questions: Write questions that help review muscles and joints (Leave blank for test group to answer)
Hypothesis: Your group give hypothesis (let test group fill in)
Identify Variables:
Materials: List materials needed to complete activity
Procedure: List of steps procedure, make sure they are clear and concise
Data table: Construct a data table for group to record data
Graph: If a graph can be used to show comparative results you can have groups construct a graph
Conclusion: What did the group learn from experiment? Ask students to write a summary/conclusion.
Post Lab Questions: Add questions that wrap up experiment.
Extended Inquiry: Could your lab be expanded on? Different variables, test subjects, etc. Have your group and your test group go through and propose extension.
MUST BE TYPED. DUE FRIDAY 2/15
